maybe they were a bank robber because there was a certain prop that messed up their life if only they were able to vote and you know what theres a lot of pedofiles out there that are not in jail so theyre voting well this is what were talking about people that be sure to follow us on instagram at wild and my podcast boring all right this is the wild and mild pot
yes we are back back in action its been a long time yes it has been a long time this is wild mild back at you again what happened what happened why did we go off the charts been busy busy so whats we went on vacation we went through a natural disaster weve been going through pandemic we started going to the gym i got
another job you got another job yep we got a vote yep lots of stuff going on right now yeah been cooking weekly you know me and olen we alternate weeks of cook and dinner and you know sometimes that takes time takes takes time to cook dinner but its good for you and its uh its good for your wallet your wallet will love you if you cook dinner and for your health too
yeah as long as you dont use a bunch of fattening stuff right and dont be fat but if you are you know its never too late to not be fat right just have some selfacceptance theres always accept your fatness is what youre saying like you know dont dont beat yourself up and say oh my gosh this is the end of the world i can never be somebody because the way i am
just thats what you used to do no yeah just kidding oh sir you have to sit up you cant lay down and do the podcast okay anyways so thank you for tuning back in with us sorry for being out for so long just been kind of regrouping ourselves and getting back into action in our real life so i feel like youre saying a lot right now but
cannot saying anything at the same time so im going to ask you to be quite just been having to beat up nolan for saying dumb stuff like that so we have a special episode we only get to do this sort of thing every two years i would say um and that is vote on propositions in california we have this thing called the direct democracy are you familiar with the concept of direct democracy sarah yeah so tell us a little
about what direct democracy is direct democracy means allowing the people to vote for certain topics and not you know involving the people not just making not just having one leader select all the decisions allowing the people to vote in specific things wow i was im honestly surprised no one
okay this is a thing with nolan like i am a very educated person and nolan always likes to say i am so surprised you are so smart oh i am so surprised about this and im like im not done like why do you always think im dumb like i know stuff im smarter than you oh really well i just i just feel like sometimes he thinks he thinks im not that
smart and you know half the time i think its because maybe hes dated a lot of dumb girls and hes thinking theyre all dumb but dam i think thats what it is i think youre the type that seems to like dumb girl or dated dumb girls thats why i like you so much yeah but then i proved you wrong then you flip the switch on me flip the switch i feel like smart girls are intimidating yeah thats the problem they keep me on my toes but dumb girls i can just sit back really
exactly so now hinoland has a challenge im not dumb stop thinking im dumb im actually pretty smart all right well if youre so smart you would probably know what is best for the state of california am i right nope that does not me that the decision does not lets go into the props yeah
so my segway was going to be sarahs okay youre so smart lets see if you know what to do about californias problems and sarah would be yep and then i was going to read the propositions but we ruing that opportunity but
ways thats what were going to do were going to read off the propositions and we are going to give our unbiased unsolicited opinions on each one of these propositions so the first one is proposition 14 the proposition sound all right prop 14 sarah authorizes bonds continuing stem cell research initiative statute summary
put on the ballot by petition signatures aka direct democracy thank you authorizes $5.5 billion in state bonds for stemcell and other medical research including training research facility construction administrative cost facility dedicates 1.5 billion to brain related diseases appropriates general fund moneies for repayment expands related programs fiscal impact
increase state cost to repay bonds estimated about 260 million per year over the next 30 years sarah your take what is the prop number again 14 so prop 14 this is for stem cell research i think that we should um you know uh theres a lot of unknown things in health i mean um the body and to be able to research more about what goes on in the body what this
diseases are out there with the brain since its so vague the brain you know i would encourage us to support this prop so that there could be research like you know there might be a tumor in there in a certain part of your brain that the doctors dont know what you know could go on there and so to order to study it further would be a good thing so youre in favor even though its very expensive
and theyre taking out loans for this youre in favor of that well theyre going to take out loans for something dumb they might as well do it for something useful oh thats a good point heres my take on it stem cell research they say that stem cells are the future of hair loss therapy and as a man thats going bald i am in favor of not going bald by any means necessary stemcells themselves could do it for me and as somebody that has very
low impact when it comes to taxes i dont think any of my tax dollars would go towards this i dont pay shit for taxes i make im broke as fuck i would be happy to make any money to provide tax dollars plus if california really goes to shit which theres parts of it that are maybe in the next three to five years were not even living in the state but the states going to have this research going on which could benefit the rest of the company so im all company
country so im all for that one so what is your youre saying yes on 14 sarah yeah next im saying yes on 14 as well all right proposition 15 increases funding sources for public schools community college and local government services by changing tax assessment of commercial and industrial property initiative constitutional amendment also put on the ballot by pet
petition signatures what prop number is this 15 comes after 14 um so taxes such properties based on current market value instead of purchase price fiscal impact increase property taxes on commercial properties worth more than $3 million providing 6.5 to 11.5 billion and new funding to local governments and schools your take well i was always for
funding for schools because uh b a poorly funded education system is never a good thing for the minds of the young and learning but its talking about like different local government stuff you know what i would say yes because a lot of people rely on local government things to do well in life for example like you know those drug um methodone clinics and
and um other things and it would keep the people out of like jail and hospital and stuff because theyre going to these you know governmently funded things aka school schools methodone clinics what why is methodone clinic your example of public because as a nurse we see a lot of drug users who wish they could
quit but they cant this doesnt even this doesnt say anything about methadone clinics it says public schools community colleges and local government services local government services okay yeah all right so i think
itll be good because itll help keep people um you know supported and and hard times and do you think that the taxation is fair do you think they should have to pay taxes based on current market values or what they bought it for current market values uh to be fair i think but like it would be nice if they can pay it for what they bought it for i think thats what everybody wants
well if youre the owner you would want that right yeah i feel like you have to base it on current market values thats what im saying i feel like yeah you have to i mean thats what home owners do they pay properties ass based on their current market value why wouldnt a commercial property so youre voting yes on this i think so yeah me too all right next one proposition 60
this allows diversity as a factor in public employment education and contracting decisions this is a legislative constitutional amendment put on the ballot by legislature so this is not direct democracy this is our politicians getting down and dirty lets see what the politicians want to do this permits government decisionming policies to consider race
sex color ethnicity or national origin in order to address diversity by repealing constitutional provision prohibiting such policies your thoughts um as a latina your thoughts you no what is it really saying like it says they want to keep all the government workplaces diverse diverse yeah so not going to you they put might put some weight into the sc
or the talents of some person but theyre also going to look at the color of their skin um well i feel like you think i would say oh yeah go for this because diverse but like cuz but like at the same time i think that im not necessarily in favor of this prop because um like for
me like i can be better than lets say a white person because of my education versus that persons education so i feel like im more likely to be hired because i worked hard for it not because of this color in my skin right so i would say no to be honest because i work hard as hell to get so what if i told you that theres currently more latin americans living in california than white people and youre actually in the majority would that change your perspective on this i think that they should hire based on
skill yeah not based on the color okay but then there that comes to say like lets say it seems like well no i dont know i think its i think it should just like if you really wanted to you know go out and get an education and get ahead of the game like you would if you really wanted to so it doesnt matter what color you are it just kind of matters where you live unfortunate
you know the ghetto no i i well i dont know about that last part but i agree i think that the united states went the things that the united states has going for it is the fact that were able to attract all these really smart people and when you put a bunch of smart people together in the room youre going to get like good results youre going to get new technologies youre going to get better workflows all sorts of great improvements come from smart people if you start factoring in some
race and all these other factors that dont have anything to do with skill or how smart somebody is or how hard working they are youre going to have problems youre going to have lazy people getting positions and im not saying that as a racist im saying that as the way i see it so sarah do you vote yes or no on this no yeah im about no as well so so far me and sah three for three
see the word see the world in the same light so far i have a feeling this might change on this next one proposition 17 this is put on the ballot by the legislator legislature this restores right to vote after completion of prison term so restores voting rights upon completion of prison term to persons who have been disqualified
from voting while serving a prison term what do you think well i guess if these people are contributing to soc
bause i really dont know what what what happens to pristers and what its affected after they get out of jail or how their life is affected honestly i dont know if they dont do they pay taxes i dont know obviously they do im sure but so i dont really know if they contribute to society still if they were to then i would say yeah they should be able to this just says people on state parole would continue to be unable to vote
in california if its no but if you are on parole then you wouldnt be able to vote thats what im saying i dont know like what rights these people have on parole im im sorry they pay taxes do they have a job do they contribute do they buy do they go to local government stuff if so then they should be able to vote if not then so if you pay taxes you should be able to vote well cuz a lot of these things have to do with your tax
is right sure thats a good point yeah i would say yeah so you think that people on parole they might be drug addicts they might be bank robbers they might be uh pedophiles they should have the right to vote i think so because maybe they were a bank robber because there was a certain prop that messed up their life if only they were able to vote and theres
lot of pedophiles out there that are not in jail so theyre voting to well this is what were talking about people that are on parole right but theres a lot of pedophiles that are not unparol or not in jail theres a lot of burglars who are not unprol not in jail you that didnt get caught pro pedopile no thats not what i am im just saying that if they are contributing to society and society is affecting
them government all that stuff then i would say they should be allowed to vote its right so if a pedophile pays their taxes they have the right to vote i guess so okay i mean im not propedophile obviously not im not pro burgler those people dont deserve to go into jail and die but like not um pedophiles cuz come on what the
but um its just kind of like you know theres so many people out there who are not in jail and not in prison who like do terrible things like really bad things and just dont get caught and theyre about their voting so its kind of like i dont know no i i i understand what youre saying for me its tough i could see i can understand not wanting
the scum of our society to participate in our uh our voting system but on the same at the same time you know these people are still people and they are contributing even though we dont like them i feel like we still kind of need to give them their rights i feel like voting is a right whether youre a piece of shit or not so ill probably vote you got like
the ceos out there stealing money from like people the people of the company out there voting like those are the scum but theyre not in so i im im going to put myself down as yes are you yes as well what yeah voting rights for these criminals yeah unfortunately yes all right thought we were going to disagree on that one but i guess we agreed on that one thats a tough one all right proposition 18 amends california
constitution to permit 17yearolds to vote in primary and special elections if they will turn 18 by the next general election and be otherwise eligible to vote no you dont think so no just keep it at 18 of that time they vote just keep it at 18 lets not make it complicated yeah yeah yeah im with you just god just leave it at 18 at the time of voting i feel like
the older a voter is the better off too because they kind of have like even though the difference between a 17yearold and 18yearold isnt that much i feel like its still like yeah i think its just going to get too complicated with somewhat complicated not necessarily super complicated with this whole prop just the time of voting if youre 18 you can vote if not if youre not 18 dont because i know that there are a lot of like 17yearolds there with a lot of knowledge
and all that stuff and wanting to vote youll get your chance when you turn 18 stop you dont get to smoke cigarettes when youre 17 just because uh i dont know where i was going with that but
at the same time like yes there are a lot of knowledgeable 17yearolds very bright but at the same time theres a lot of really really really dumb 17yearolds i think especially now in today and society they say your brain doesnt stop forming until youre 25 so maybe they should raise the they say your brain doesnt stop forming and you dont you stop you mature when youre like 22 when youre a female but like when youre 40 when youre a male so i think
they should change it to males and female change it to male and female brain grows until its 40 no just kidding well that makes sense because never mind just kidding all right im going to vote no on this one how are you voting uh no 17yearolds should vote just wait until youre 18 no on 17yearolds thats i think its funny how its prop 18 to be 18 years old devate i think thats thats funny all right
proposition 19 changes certain property tax rules this is put on the ballot by the legislature allows home owners who are over 55 disabled or wildfire disaster victims to transfer primary residence tax bas to replacement residence changes taxation of family property transfers establishes fire protection services fund fiscal impact local governments could gain tens of millions of dollars of
tax revenue per year probably growing over time to a few hundred million dollars per year schools could receive similar property tax gains so well get well go into detail for this one cuz i feel like its a little confusing for me at least a yes vote on this measure means all home owners who are over 55 or who meet other qualifications would be eligible for property tax savings when they move
only inherited properties used as primary homes or farms would be eligible for property tax savings a no vote on this measure means some home owners who are over 55 or who meet other qualifications would continue to be eligible for property tax savings when they move all inherited properties would continue to be eligible for property tax savings i dont know i have no fucking clue this is
probably a good good thing that im not a homeowner because i have no fucking idea what this is talking about let me see which one is it 19 yeah oh here um yes um who me other call would be eligible for property tax savings no means would continue to be eligible for property savings when they move so it looks like the same thing only in
properties used as primary homes or farms would be eligible for property tax savings all inherited properties would uh maybe everybody should be eligible for property tax savings so yes i feel like yes make means that you get less property tax savings it says all inherited homes i have no idea
im not going to vote for this one cuz i dont understand it okay next how are you going to vote yes youre going to vote yes all right im voting nothing prop 20 restricts parole for certain offenses currently considered to be nonviolent authorizes felony sentences for certain offenses currently treated only as mistermainers interesting
so this limits access to parole program established for nonviolent offenders who have completed the full term of their primary fence by eliminating eligibility for certain offenses fiscal impact increase in state and local correctional court and law enforcement costs likely in tens of millions of dollars annually depending on implementation what your vote means a yes vote on this measure means people who commit certain theft related crimes such as repeat
toplifting could recrease could receive increased penalties such as longer jail terms additional factors would be considered for the states process for releasing certain inmates from prison early law enforcement would be required to collect dna samples from adults convicted of certain misdemeaners and no vote on this measure means penalties for people who commit certain theft related crimes would not be increased there would be no change for states process
for releasing certain inmates from prison early law enforcement would continue to be required to collect dna samples from adults only they arrested for a felony or required to register as sex offenders or arsonists
so this basically sounds like theyre up in the punishment for misdemeners oh misdemeeners i dont know i dont know lets see so um is it basically saying like we got to really stop all these minim like little crimes that people are doing by upping their punishment
yeah so if you uh if you buy alcohol for the kids outside the 7eleven you might go to prison oh no no just leave it the way it is you trying to buy alcohol for a bunch of 18yearolds not trying to go to prison prisons worse than jail trying to party with some 18yearold sir excuse me you should get in trouble but not have
have to go to prison yeah im never in favor of harsher sentences i feel like this sentences in our country are very harsh yeah and i feel like jail is very bad for some people in this country compared to other countries yeah so im going to vote no on this one i think youre going to vote no as well is that correct all right proposition 21 expands local governments authority to enact
control on residential property ooh interesting were renters allows local governments to establish rent control on residential properties over 15 years old i say rent control local limits on rate increases may differ from statewide limit fiscal impact overall a potential reduction in state and local revenues in the high tens of millions of dollars per year over time depending on actions by local communities revenue losses could be less or more
the yes vote on this measure means state law would allow cities and counties to apply more kinds of rent control to more properties than under current law no vote on this measure means state law would maintain current limits on rent control laws cities and counties can apply i say rent control youre pro rent control and why is that so they dont stop
they dont up your rent but doesnt that kind of conflict with like the market mhm so then people isnt the market supposed to figure itself out though not the government i dont know im done what do you mean youre done im done you cant just say i dont know im done im done how many still got four more to do i dont want to do it anymore what i dont want to do
do it anymore okay is this going to be part one we new part two later new part two later okay part two later all right we already we already talked about this we already talked about this prop so what are you whats your input i feel like you should allow rent prices to figure themselves out the more you involve government in figuring out anything that youre your landlord would have increase
your rent till probably like 1700 by now my landlord hasnt increased the rent by anything yeah thats what im saying if there was if it do you know why she hasnt increased the rent why because theres rent control because of covid19 right shes scared that she cant get another rent here rent are in here has nothing to do with rent control i dont know okay you know what happened to uh our neighbor what they raise the rent on him why cuz thats what the landlord
thought they could get out of them wow that sucks so uh the right prices here dont have anything to do with anything you i think our landlord likes me as a tenant weve never been late on rent shes never come to see the apartment shes never come to see the impartment either she likes us cuz we respond whenever she contacts us thats true huh responsible thats good absolutely thats good
nice for you out there renting always respond to your landlord and always so i feel like we differ on this one sarah youre voting yes on prop 21 im cancelling you out with a no vote on prop 21 so you can go yeah so oh theres still four more we got to do we can get to those another time since sarahs exhausted shes expended her mental energy for the day look at him
shes looking at the cat its just yenning anyways so how was the texas trip nolin i thought we were done i thought we were done just doing the props well we
well save the other ones for that next episode and then well talk about other stuff too okay sound good all right this is a more serious episode than normal but its over so were leaving now have a good day see you
